If you re looking for a down-to-earth, practical approach to Stress Management which helps individuals and companies to improve performance and enjoy life to the full, then Annie's your girl.

Annie has over 20 years experience in highly competitive business environments. Following her career as a professional dancer, she built a successful career in advertising & marketing, rising to Board level in advertising agencies specialising in the travel industry. Annie experienced first hand the pressures (both positive and negative) of modern living.

After retraining in Professional Stress Management, Annie offers clients the opportunity to stand back and evaluate their professional and personal lives and identify, at personal or company level, where positive change can enhance performance, improve wellbeing and make life and work more fulfilling at all levels.

Whilst the S word (stress) is essential to some degree in every life, positive management does not come so easily and many employers are unaware of their responsibilities or of the benefits of a positive stress management programme. Annie works with clients individually or in group/board workshops and seminars for companies including KPMG, New Frontiers and SHINE. She helps them understand where their personal challenges lie and how to work with them rather than against them, to achieve positive benefits in all aspects of their business and personal lives.

Annie's unique ability and extensive professional stress management qualifications enable her to tailor programmes for each specific situation or individual. She is an excellent speaker and teacher, a trained masseuse, Reiki therapist, Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, meaning clients have access to solutions most suited to their own needs at any given time.

Individual, confidential counselling, workshops and seminars are tailored to train clients to understand and manage stress positively for the benefit of their health, wellbeing and performance. They give practical, hand-on advice, in an enjoyable, entertaining and non-judgmental environment. Clients obtain advice and assistance which can be put into practice straight away.

One-to-one follow-up sessions, more advanced workshops and training sessions, can be developed and work alone or alongside existing mentoring programmes.

Work Posture and It’s Effects on Your Stress Levels

What have your posture at work and stress levels got to do with each other? Well, as you know, incorrect posture can lead to tight and painful muscles which means that your body is under stress. When your body is under stress, it can restrict the nervous system, which in turn affects our stress levels.

So what can you do to help maintain a healthy posture at work?

Here’s your starter for 10!

  1. Sit at your desk with your upper legs at 45 degrees to the hips. Make sure you can comfortably reach your PC, telephone etc without overstretching. When using your PC, your lower arms should be at 90 degrees from your body and the forearms should rest on the desk to provide support. Sit with your bottom right at the back of your chair so that your spine is supported. Put both feet flat on the floor (crossing them causes tension). If your feet don’t
reach the floor, put a cushion or footrest.

  2. We have a tendency to lean in towards our computers and this strain the neck. Every so often throughout the day, pull your chin back and tuck it in (making a double chin). This will stretch the muscles at the back of the neck and ease tension.

  3. Every hour, stand up from your desk, walk around a bit, roll your shoulders and do gentle head rolls in both directions, swing from the waist and bend the knees to release tension in the spine. Not only will this decrease tension, a break of only 2-3 minutes per hour improves your efficiency and accuracy by 15% If you want to know more about physical and emotional stress, please visit www.breathingspacetherapies.com
